Read an excerpt from Samuel Delany's long-awaited new novel online!

We've been excited about Samuel R. Delany's new novel, Through the Valley of the Nest of Spiders, since we talked to him about it a year ago. And now, at last, you can read an excerpt from it online.

The novel is coming out in February from Alyson Books, and here's the blurb:

A vast river of a novel alive with explicit sexuality and the the richness of life itself, Through the Valley of the Nest of Spiders concerns a gay, working-class, interracial relationship. In 2007, just before Eric's seventeenth birthday, his father brings him to Diamond Harbor, a failing tourist town on the Georgia coast, to live with his mother. There Eric meets nineteen-year-old Morgan Haskell, who works with his father, Dynamite Haskell, and the two boys soon join their lives-and their bodies-together on the coast as a couple over the next seventy-five years.

And it looks like the excerpt, up at Boston Review, takes place early in the book, when Eric is still seventeen years old and he's just met Morgan for the first time and is having adventures in Diamond Harbor. [Boston Review]
