The Embassy of Drowned Nations, a home for refugees of rising seasS

This is concept art for the Embassy of Drowned Nations, an artificial island on Fort Denison in Sydney, Australia. The facility would be used to temporarily house those who've been displaced by rising sea levels.

The Australian firm Oculus created this island for Sea Change 2030+, a competition that challenged designers to imagine creative ways to combat rising sea oceans. This island is designed to sink deeper into Sydney Harbour as water levels increase, thus exposing further land on the island. Refugees of the rising tides are subsequently offered a place in Australian society — the designers see this island as a chance for Australia to make up for years of massive CO2 production.
