The big-screen adaptation of Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphona's Marvel comic Runaways will begin filming next spring in Los Angeles. Its production moniker, "Small Faces," is a reference to the British band who had a hit single entitled "Runaway."
As of now, the names attached to the project are Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist director Peter Sollett and screenwriter Drew Pearce of the British superhero comedy No Heroics — check out a salty clip from the show starring the dysfunctional hero Timebomb below. Given the comic's zippy humor and hormonal heroes, this duo could make this adaptation sing. Just check out the above scene from Runaways 10, featuring perpetual guest star Wolverine, the X-Men's Danger Room, and Molly Hayes, the Runaways' super-strong mutant middle schooler.
Also, in case you didn't see the news from last week, the production won't be racebending the Runaways' Asian American sorceress Nico Minoru.
