This may well be the coolest video you see today. In a post-apocalyptic far future, Thundarr the Barbarian slices open a giant robot serpent bus with his Sunsword. It's your exclusive sneak peek at the new Thundarr DVD set.

My new catchphrase is, "Ookla, no!"

If you missed out on Thundarr the Barbarian, you're probably not alone. But it's the brainchild of Steve Gerber, who also created the comics Howard The Duck and Hard Time, and wrote the best issues of Marvel's Defenders comic. And the characters were designed by comics masterminds Alex Toth and Jack Kirby. Here's how Warner Bros. describes the set:

Man's civilization is cast in ruin when a runaway planet speeds between the Earth and the Moon, unleashing cosmic destruction. Two-thousand years later, Earth is reborn from the ashes with a savage landscape, strange creatures and a primitive sense of justice. But one man fights to spread peace throughout the land: he is Thundarr the Barbarian and you can own All 21 Exciting Adventures in a 4-Disc Collection starring Thundarr and his companions Ookla the Mok and sorceress Princess Ariel. Using their strength, courage and wits plus Thundarr's magical Sunsword, they journey from village to village, liberating slaves and battling all kinds of beasts, mutants, wizards, thieves and robots. The future of Earth may be shrouded in darkness, but Thundarr the Barbarian bursts into action as a shining symbol of hope for humanity.

Any show that features beasts, mutants, wizards, thieves AND robots is okay with me. Here are the original opening credits:

And here's a pretty good episode guide. The four-disc set will be available starting today, only from the Warner Bros. Archive. [Warner Bros. Archive]
