Meet the Actroid-F, an emotive android that's being tested in some Japanese hospitals to observe patients and make them feel comfortable. Who wouldn't be totally at ease with this happy mechanical mannequin leering over you?

From October 14-15, the Tsukuba Center of the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology showed off some of their robot-creations. One of them was the Actroid-F, which was developed by Kokoro Co. Ltd and ATR. This particular android was created to provide patients with companionship during hospital stays. The robot can't get up, so I'm guessing it heals you with encouraging words, quizzical glances, and the power of robo-prayer.
