Adele Blanc-Sec, Muhammad Ali, and Atomic Robo take over this week's comicsS

This week's comic haul has everything from French pulp heroines to Superman boxing a World Heavyweight Champion to Cadillacs and dinosaurs to sentient chickens demanding avian rights. It's a comic book party, and everyone's invited!

There's several noteworthy, oddball trades out Wednesday. First off, Dynamite's releasing a collection of Grant Morrison and Mark Millar's Vampirella stories (before the two writers had a falling out). Next, Fantagraphics is reprinting Jacques Tardi's The Extraordinary Adventures Of Adele Blanc-Sec in English — the first installment features the adventurer battling a pterodactyl, and when are we going to see Luc Besson's adaptation cross the Atlantic? You can read a preview here. Finally, Flesk is reprinting Mark Schulz's Xenozoic comics, which are more popularly known under the title Cadillacs and Dinosaurs.

If metal heroes are more your speed, there's a new installment of Atomic Robo — in the first issue of Atomic Robo And The Deadly Art Of Science (Red 5), the clanking hero battles gangsters in the 1930s. Scifi writer Alexander Irvine does a cyberpunk take on Tony Stark in the four-part miniseries Iron Man: The Rapture (Marvel). And if you prefer your heroes tougher than Kryptonite, there's the hardcover re-release of Superman vs. Muhammad Ali (DC), which features Superman and the heavyweight legend squaring of in an alien's boxing arena.

There's also a slew of second issues coming out today. In no particular order, there's the Tron Legacy prequel Tron Betrayal 2 (Marvel), True Blood's Michael McMillian Lucid 2 (Archaia), the odd Britannia of Paul Cornell's Knight & Squire 2 (DC), and the second issue of Matt Fraction's run on Thor. Other supernaturally tinged tales that may be up your alley include Unwritten 19 (DC/Vertigo) (Tom Taylor divines the secrets of Moby Dick), a new Victorian Undead series by Ian Edginton (which pits Dracula against Sherlock Holmes), and new Angel miniseries from IDW starring Illyria. Also, IDW's Dungeons and Dragons ongoing comes out this week — we misreported that before, apologies dice tumblers.

Finally, Nick Spencer is reviving Tower Comics' T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents (DC) in a new ongoing. Marc Guggenheim imagines a world in which superheroes have won in Halcyon 1 (Image), and Gerry Alanguilan's graphic novel Elmer (Slave Labor Graphics) imagines a world in which chickens have gained sentience and demand civil rights. You can read a preview here.

As usual, here's the list of everything being released to comic stores tomorrow, and you can find your nearest comic retailer here. Happy reading, gang!
