Star Trek 2

J.J. Abrams offers a brief update on where the film is up to. There still isn't a finished script, which means he's not willing to say much:

Chris Zylka is reportedly now confirmed as playing Peter Parker's bullying nemesis (and Spider-Man's biggest fan) Flash Thompson. [The Wrap]

Some of the movie's first set photos reveal the newly blonde Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy — and she's going to a funeral. Probably her policeman father's, since he dies in the comics, too. [Superhero Hype]

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

For anyone who really wants to know the ins and outs of the Harry Potter movie world, here's a forty-minute interview with producer David Heyman, one of the relatively few people involved in all eight movies: [First Showing]

Fringe

Executive producer Jeff Pinkner says they're focusing on the main universe going forward, at least for a little while:

You definitely haven't seen the last of the ‘over there' world," says Wyman. "We've established that both of these worlds are linked in a profound way. We are going to attend to that. We are going back ‘over there.' It's not going to be forgotten about, but we're not going to be ‘one on, one off' right now."

He and fellow showrunner J.H. Wyman also say that the second half of the season will delve into the mystery of the First People. [EW]

An inside source is supposedly claiming Fringe is about to be officially renewed for a fourth season, move to Fridays be damned. That said, the person reporting this actually tells us to take this story with a grain of salt, so I wouldn't put too much stock in this until we hear more. [SpoilerTV]

Doctor Who

Here are a bunch of unaltered photos from a recent shoot with Matt Smith, Michael Gambon, and Katherine Jenkins for "A Christmas Carol." Among other things, one photos seems to confirm the reports of flying sharks being involved in the special. [MTV Splash Page]

The Walking Dead

Comics creator Robert Kirkman explained what his role will be on the show going forward:

I'll continue to be an executive producer, so I'll continue to operate on the model of being a comic book writer, which is what I do. I want the comic book series going monthly, because that's my main focus. With TV, it's very tempting to work more on a TV show and have a more active hand, but it's always going to be based upon how much time I have to devote to it. If I have the time, I would like to be more involved, and I will be. If I see that my comics aren't coming up and artists are waiting on scripts and things are starting to become a bit of a disaster, I'll back off [the show], just because I know it's in good hands. The comics are my main focus. So, I may end up being more involved and I may end up being less involved. I don't really know yet. It's just a matter of what my time permits, so we'll see!

Chuck

An inside source claims that John Laroquette, who played Roan Montgomery back in season 2, is returning to the show, although it's not confirmed he's playing the same character. (It's a reasonable assumption, but not known for sure.) Spartacus: Blood and Sand actress Leslie-Ann Brandt reportedly is appearing with him. No Ordinary Family

Here's a synopsis for the January 4 episode "No Ordinary Friends":

After Jim saves Dave Cotten's (Ricky Schroder) life, he and Stephanie become fast friends with Dave, his wife, Michelle (Annie Wersching, "24") and their kids. But Jim begins to suspect that the Cottens may be leading their own secret lives. Meanwhile, Daphne throws her hat into the high school ring for student council president, and Katie reveals a secret to Stephanie about her relationship with Joshua - aka The Watcher.

Supernatural

It looks like the second half of the season will see Sam's soul returned to him, albeit in damaged form. But before he and Dean can deal with all that, they first have to deal with a virgin-kidnapping dragon in an episode called "Like a Virgin." Executive producer Sera Gamble explains:

"It's a good episode to watch if you're interested in our monster mythology. We answer the question of why, after all this time, this creature has returned now. There's a pretty big bombshell."

Also, there's a massively meta episode coming up in the second half of the season, in which Sam and Dean wake up in a strange parallel reality where they're a couple of actors named Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, stars of a show called Supernatural. Yeah, that one should be all manners of insane. [Zap2It]

Episode 15 is reportedly called "The French Mistake." One can only hope there will be the requisite amount of sticking out one's tush involved. [SpoilerTV]
