Has a True Blood star emerged as the front-runner to play Superman? Plus Leonard Nimoy is returning to Fringe!

True Blood's hunky werewolf could be the new Man of Steel. Sam Raimi's still working on an Evil Dead reboot. Leonard Nimoy wants a return engagement as Dr. William Bell. Learn what's next for Game of Thrones and Walking Dead.

Superman Reboot

Joe Magnaniello, who plays the werewolf Alcide on True Bood as well as Flash Thompson in the original Spider-Man movies, is reportedly one of the current front-runners to play Superman. He's been talked about for a while now, he's said that he wants the job, the source is more reputable than most, and the rumor itself is fairly reasonable - it just says he's one of the main contenders, nothing more - but still, for now this is just unconfirmed rumor and speculation. [@HeroComplex]

Moon and Source Code director Duncan Jones discusses why he didn't end up directing the reboot, and he drops an odd detail that might - but almost certainly isn't - a clue for the villain of the movie:

I was thrilled to be on that short list. For me, that was enough. I don't know if I would be ready for that leap yet. I did have a meeting with Chris and he's a fantastic guy and seemed to have really enjoyed "Moon," so there was some legitimate interest in me. I think, maybe, I'm not quite ready for that scale of project and that scale of expectation from an audience that is already existing and is waiting to see the next generation of Superman film. I don't know. It's a hard one. I'm a huge Superman fan and Bizarro Superman fan...Superman was so big that I think I was a little intimidated by it and sort of backed out.

A "Bizarro Superman fan", eh? He's almost certainly just talking about what Superman stories he had previously enjoyed, but hey...when you start hearing unsourced rumors that Bizarro will be the villain of the new film, this is probably why. [ComingSoon.net]

Evil Dead Reboot

Sam Raimi's long-term producer Robert Tapert says there's still some chance of an Evil Dead reboot:

[An Evil Dead reboot is] possible; we're looking at a script this month…What's interesting about ‘Evil Dead' is very few people saw it in the format we made it for, which is for the theater…I think Sam wants to embrace the ultimate experience in grueling terror and see it remade for a proper theatrical experience.
