Superman Reboot

Zack Snyder confirms that Viggo Mortensen will not be in the movie - although, before we read too much into that, he doesn't actually confirm that Mortensen was actually in the running for the part, and he doesn't address whether that part was ever General Zod. So I wouldn't take this as indirect confirmation that Zod is involved or anything like that. Snyder also won't confirm either way whether Lois Lane or Lex Luthor will be in the movie. Total Recall Reboot

Len Wiseman and Colin Farrell's remake of the Paul Verhoeven/Arnold Schwarzenegger cult classic is now reportedly considering actresses for the two main female roles. For the part of Douglas Quaid's wife Lori, played by Sharon Stone in the original, Superman Returns's Kate Bosworth is reportedly reading for the part, and The Other Guys's Eva Mendes is also reportedly under consideration for the role. Inglourious Basterds's Diane Kruger was also rumored to be reading for it, but as with her recent Superman rumors, her people have flatly denied these reports. As for Quaid's (literal) dream girl Melina, names either reading or under consideration reportedly include Eva Mendes again, Casino Royale's Eva Green, Precious's Paula Patton, or The A-Team's Jessica Biel. As always, take these casting rumors with a grain of salt until we have more to go on. [Deadline]

Akira

Speaking of likely unreliable casting rumors, the live-action Akira remake has reportedly narrowed down its choice of actors for the two lead roles of Tetsuo and Kaneda, and yeah...I'd go ahead and set your teeth to gnash, as the rumored names include Robert Pattinson, Andrew Garfield, and James McAvoy for Tetsuo, with Garrett Hedlund, Michael Fassbender, Chris Pine, Justin Timberlake, and Joaquin Phoenix the supposed contenders for Kaneda. But hey...Steve Kloves's recent rewrite of the script supposedly has the studio and directors Albert and Allen Hughes excited. So that's something, right? Right? [Deadline]

Jack the Giant Killer

Bryan Singer's adult take on the Jack and the Beanstalk fairy tale has added another awesome actor to a cast that already includes Nicholas Hoult, Stanley Tucci, Ewan McGregor, Bill Nighy, John Kassir, and Eleanor Tomlinson. Eternal badass Ian McShane has reportedly signed on to play King Brahmwell. [Heat Vision]

Eureka

An upcoming premiere episode will reportedly be called "LOST." The source says this is for the first episode of season five, but I assume they actually mean the midseason premiere episode that kicks off season 4.5. You know, I'm starting to think Syfy's season numbers are just a little bit confusing. [SpoilerTV]
