Thor

Loki actor Tom Hiddleston compares Chris Hemsworth's performance as Thor to Christopher Reeve's work as Superman:

"Chris [Hemsworth] is like Christopher Reeve [in Richard Donner's 'Superman'] in that he can do two things: he can wear a big red cape without a shred of self-consciousness. But he's also funny as hell, and he's so sweet. So with all the fish-out-of-water stuff… he's so funny. So he does almost two jobs in a way."

The Avengers

Mark Ruffalo has reportedly confirmed that his role as the Hulk will be a heroic one, and his character won't be the reason why the other superheroes band together, as has often been the case in the comics. [ComingSoon.net]

Superman Reboot

Amy Adams explains part of the reason she was attracted to playing Lois Lane:

"I think the role of women in society constantly changes. And what I love about Lois Lane is that she's been very consistently strong, successful, independent. I'm very attracted to that. It was a time when women were really - I don't want to make some grand statement because I know it will come across as a grand statement - but [women were often limited by society then and] what I loved about her was that she was able to be smart and be feminine and I think that that's something I know I'm going to teach my daughter, that you don't have to be a man to be powerful. You can be a powerful woman."

Justice League

Zack Snyder revealed that the current plans to start up a Justice League franchise are totally unconnected to his Superman movie, they take place in a separate continuity, and Henry Cavill almost certainly wouldn't appear as Superman in Justice League. This is pretty much the same approach Warner Bros. took a few years back with the George Miller Justice League movie that fell apart for a whole bunch of reasons. Here's his quote on how it all connects:

It doesn't. Like what Chris Nolan is doing and what I'm doing with Superman, what they'll do with Justice League will be it's own thing with it's own Batman and own Superman. We'll be over here with our movie and they'll kinda get to do it twice which is kinda cool.

It's still an open question how Ryan Reynolds's Green Lantern might fit in or what this means or whether The Flash or Wonder Woman projects would in fact spin out of this movie...but I'd be shocked if any of this happens anyway, so I wouldn't worry too much about all that just yet. [HeyUGuys]

X-Men: First Class

James McAvoy confirms that we will see the scene where Charles Xavier loses the use of his legs, although he seems to imply that he will still have hair by the end of the film. He also explains how they approached the tone of this film:

It's not really a reboot this; it is a prequel really so we don't get that thing where you go, 'Right, we're just going to make it really dark and deep and we're going to really reapproach and redefine the way we approach a film.' But, you have set it in a completely different time and you are also taking these people to a much earlier point in their personal development as well as their physical and super development. What's fun is you get to figure out who were they in the other films.

He adds:

If we do a two and a three — if this one makes any money and we do get to do more — then you've got a really nice start. Not only is [Xavier] newly having to deal with the fact he no longer can walk, but whether he's to challenge Magneto or not is a big deal.

He also describes the relationship between Charles, Michael Fassbender's Magneto, and Jennifer Lawrence's Raven/Mystique:

There is a love triangle between me, Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence who plays Raven. It's not a love triangle... basically she's my assistant in this film, and obviously by the other films she is not my assistant anymore; she is very much not my assistant. Actually that's quite good fun to see how that relationship disintegrates as well and why she ultimately goes over to the dark side as well.

The Amazing Spider-Man

This is kinda out of nowhere and it has nothing to do with the actual production of the movie, but Paul Giamatti revealed on Conan his desire to play a particular villain in the new Spider-Man movie:

"The Rhino was fantastic. He was, like, a Russian guy. He was real fast and he hit stuff real hard... He had, like, a rhino suit on, and his face was sticking out of the rhino suit and he had, like, a horn. I think I would be the best Rhino possible."

Well, if nothing else, it's a thought for the sequel, I guess. After all, the Spider-Man franchise has had nothing but success when it comes to casting Sideways actors... [Toronto Sun]

This may - or may not! - be our first look at Martin Freeman in costume as Bilbo Baggins. We can't actually see Freeman's face in any of these shots, but the attire is certainly hobbit-y, and since Freeman is pretty much the only actor on set right now who isn't playing a dwarf...well, it seems likely enough that it's him, but don't consider it confirmed. Ghostbusters 3

Bill Murray reportedly still hasn't contacted Sony about the script, which may well be an indication that he has yet to even read it, despite the fact that he has had it for months. If I didn't know better, I'd say he's just trying to pocket veto the movie at this point. Either way, it doesn't look like this is happening anytime soon, particularly with the reports that Murray may next play Franklin Delano Roosevelt. [Deadline]

Powers

Fans of quality television, rejoice: FX is reportedly courting Friday Night Lights and upcoming Super 8 star Kyle Chandler to play a role in the adaptation of Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming's comic. He'd presumably play Christian Walker, but that actually isn't confirmed in the report. It's also worth reiterating that BSG's Katee Sackhoff is openly campaigning for the part of Deena Pilgrim, so yeah...this could end very well indeed, assuming all these pieces come together.
