Now that Chewbacca has put in an appearance in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which much-loved character from the original trilogy will be the next to show up?
After supervising director Dave Filoni showed a new trailer at Wondercon, he revealed that one classic character who's showing up in the series appeared in the above trailer. The trailer's only about 40 seconds long, so who could he be talking about?
Possibly the dashing Mon Calamari whom you can glimpse, rushing into danger as if he didn't even care that it's a trap? Yes, everybody's assuming that the newly animated original trilogy character will be a young Admiral Ackbar.
Separately, Filoni gave Entertainment Weekly some hints about what to expect from the show next, including an episode directed by Oscar-winning Apocalypse Now editor Walter Murch, and a new character voiced by Katee Sackhoff. Plus:
Right off the bat, we're going back to the actual Clone War between the Republic and Separatists, and we've planned some stories that work on a scale of battle the likes of which we've never seen before on this series. It should be quite exciting for the audience, I think, because we've been dealing with a bit of espionage in the Citadel, the hunt in this last episode, but we haven't seen the big, all-out battlefield stuff in a while. That's because, frankly, it's difficult to do. You know, A New Hope had a pretty big battle at the end of it, but what we saw on Hoth got a bit bigger than that, in terms of the number of Rebels fighting Imperials. But neither of those could compare to the battle above the second Death Star in Return of the Jedi. We're getting to that Return of the Jedi level of combatants. I think the only question for us now is, how far can we take this?
And he says to expect a lot more three-part storylines, broken up by the occasional standalone story where we check in on R2D2 and C3PO.
