Wait. Is DC really trying to make a Hawkman movie?

We've got great Batman movies, a relaunched Superman series, and a Green Lantern movie about to break. But a Hawkman movie? We honestly did not see this one coming. Could Hawkman beat the Flash to the big screen?

The buzz on the internet says producers Adrian Askarieh, Gregory Novack and Will Hackner are trying to build a Hawkman flick. According to It'sOnTheGrid — courtesy of The Playlist, who found the potential film's logline on the locked site — this is the Indiana Jones meets National Treasure with a sprinkle of Da Vinci Code type of film they're trying to build:

Part INDIANA JONES/DA VINCI CODE, part GHOST tentpole about the fictional superhero that appears in D.C. Comic books. He used archaic weaponry and large, artificial wings attached to a harness made of the Nth metal that allows flight. Most incarnations of Hawkman work closely with a partner/romantic interest named Hawkgirl or Hawkwoman in his fight against supervillains. Based on the DC comic.

Sounds like they're toying with the origins tale behind Hawkman's Carter Hall. You remember, the archeologist who unlocks the secret that he's actually an Egyptian Prince!

The more DC superhero movies they make, the more we wonder, are they really going to try and make a Justice League film? They'd have to reboot Batman entirely (there's no way his world could mesh with Green Lanterns) but with Zack Snyder's Superman on the rise, it's entirely possible. Plus we've heard rumors of a new Batman reboot after Nolan leaves. Even though Geoff Johns has denied any plans for a JL movie, we didn't think they would announce it this early anyway.
