Darren Aronofsky wants to do an "edgy re-telling" of the tale of Noah's ark. The first step? Getting Christian Bale to play the titular Noah.
Shortly after dropping out of directing The Wolverine, Darren Aronofsky's next project appeared to be a fantasy epic version of Noah's ark that he'd written himself. He's looking for $130 million to make it and he's reportedly "very passionate" about it.
That massive price tag may be the reason that Aronofsky is looking to lock down the lead before he even has the money to offer. Vulture reports that Aronofsky's in talks with Christian Bale to play the 600 year-old Noah. The project is with New Regency, but they're still looking for a major studio to co-finance it. Paramount, Summit, and Fox are included in the list of studios thinking about giving them the cash, and attaching Bale's name to the project could help get the cash.
Here's hoping to see Christian Bale's intense and angry take on Darren Aronofsky's edgy and epic Noah.
