Once-in-a-Lifetime Experiences You Could Have at Comic-Con 2011

Only a few more precious weeks until San Diego Comic-Con! And even though Batman and Superman are skipping out this year, there's still plenty to be excited about.

Including Game of Thrones, Spider-Man, Venture Bros., and Locke & Key. Here's our list of what we're most excited about.

Movies

The Amazing Spider-Man
Rumor has it Spider-Man will be like Scott Pilgrim was last year. Expect every single hallway, archway, bathroom building and street sign to be draped in Spider-Man ads. While that's still not 100% confirmed, the general consensus is that Spider-Man will definitely rule Hall H this year. Fingers crossed director Marc Webb brings the new Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) and screens some special footage. Also, this would be a pretty perfect location to announce the villain officially.

Cowboys And Aliens
Director Jon Favreau must be tired of screening clips and sizzle reels for his band of loyal comic-con fans. This year he's treating 2,000 fans to the world premiere of his latest film Cowboys & Aliens at San Diego Civic Theatre Saturday night, 7/23. For more information, stay glued to Fav's tweets.

Fright Night
We've been hyped about this reboot since we saw the trailer, and it was actually scary! While we're not sure if David Tennant will be at SDCC, we will still wait in line to watch any new footage of this man writhing around in leather pants (as he's prone to do, playing a d-bag Vegas magician). And according to Dreamworks, Fright Night will also be throwing a "fan appreciation party as well as a screening in advance." Color us interested. The panel will be on Friday, July 22 in Hall H.

Rise Of The Planet of the Apes
No official word on whether or not this film will have a panel, but Fox must be dying to show off the gorgeous Weta work on their ape attackers. We've yet to see a clip from this movie, and we suspect it's because they're saving the good stuff for Comic-Con.

Other films we're excited about that may (or may not) be coming to Comic-Con: Immortals (confirmed), Underworld 4 (confirmed), Shark Night 3D (confirmed), Don't Be Afraid of the Dark(not confirmed), and fingers crossed for a surprise Avengers assembly. Sure, there won't be an official Avengers panel, but I do know that I have never been to a Joss Whedon-less Comic-Con.

Television

Once-in-a-Lifetime Experiences You Could Have at Comic-Con 2011

Game Of Thrones
On Thursday, July 21st David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, Emilia Clarke, Peter Dinklage, Kit Harington, Jason Momoa, and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau will all sit on a panel MODERATED by Game of Thrones author Author George R.R. Martin. Where can we line up now? Also we expect Martin's latest work Dance With Dragons to get a mighty push at this years Comic-Con. Image via the Wertzone.

Locke & Key
Pissed off that the live action Locke & Key TV series wasn't picked up by Fox? Well, now's your chance to watch the pilot, which will be screened on Friday July 22nd at SDCC. Amazing. Then attend the panel because Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez, Josh Friedman, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci will all be on hand.

Venture Bros.
The Venture Bros. will screen their hotly anticipated behind-the-music special "From the Ladle to the Grave: The Story of Shallow Gravy" on Thursday, July 21st.

Doctor Who
Matt Smith and Karen Gillan will make their first ever Comic-Con appearance this year on July 24th, in Hall H! And they're bringing some brand new Doctor Who footage!

The River
All we know is that there will be a panel for this show on Friday, but the details are scarce. You should definitely show up and support this show, which we titled The Best Pilot We've Seen In Years. This show is the sleeper hit of 2011 and you'll want to be there, because if it comes back in 2012, the lines will be too long.

True Blood
This rowdy True Blood panel is always a favorite. Mostly for the screaming. THR is reporting that the panel is going to be loaded with stars including: Alan Ball, Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, Sam Trammell, Ryan Kwanten, Rutina Wesley, Kevin Alejandro, Kristin Bauer van Straten, Nelsan Ellis, Joe Manganiello and Deborah Ann Woll. Top that shit, Twilight.

The Walking Dead
There are very little details, but we do know that The Walking Dead has been filming recently. Let's hope they screen some new footage, because the trailer for the premiere season was the highlight the con last year. Wherever is it, get there early.

Other TV shows we're excited about at Comic-Con: Person Of Interest (confirmed), Supernatural (confirmed) Archer (confirmed and will have a screening), Alcatraz (confirmed), Once Upon a Time (confirmed) and Futurama (confirmed).

Comics

DC's Big Relaunch
What's spinning out from the big DC Relaunch? Fans will want to know, and DC will have a lot of explaining to do, at least to the band of protesters who are arranging a march on comic con.

X-Men: Schism
Now that Marvel has decided to split the X-Men into two different teams, what will the future hold for our favorite mutants? We'll find out in San Diego!
