New videos for Captain America, Torchwood and True Blood. Plus two absolutely insane Dark Knight Rises rumors!

Steven Moffat offers the latest update on the future of Doctor Who. Does a children's book reveal the secret origin of Captain America's all-powerful artifact? Plus tons of Torchwood: Miracle Day hints to get you ready for the big premiere!

Spoilers from this point forward!

The Dark Knight Rises

This rumor is almost certainly false, but it's too cool to ignore - Adam West has supposedly been spotted in the same general area of England where shooting is currently taking place. So...will the definitive TV Batman (non-animated division) make an appearance in Christopher Nolan's final Batman movie? The answer, almost certainly, is no, seeing as he's not been seen on the set itself, and England is a moderately large place. It's a fun thought though. [Comic Book Movie]

Now for a rumor that makes the Adam West thing look downright plausible. Someone has posted an "explanation" for what the viral "The Fire Rises" campaign refers to. Here's the heavily sic'd explanation:

the league burns down a town and just as their about to leave they see a child rise up out of a pit covered in flames. They are intrigued because it has something to do with their mythology or prophecies. I guess they see him as a messiah of some sort. The chant is a kind of tribute slash salute.

This is supposed to refer to the scenes shot in India a few weeks back. If it's real - which it almost certainly isn't, but bear with me - then I guess this has something to do with the League of Shadows, the Lazarus Pits, and maybe one or two members of the al Ghul clan. But, again, this is almost certainly just crazy speculation. [Nolan Fans]

Here are a couple scans from a tie-in children's book that suggest the Red Skull got the cosmic cube from a dead Asgardian, presumably one that fell during the ancient war shown at the beginning of Thor. There's also a scan of Bucky Barnes. [Know Your Marvel News]

Stargate Movies

Original Stargate movie writer-producer Dean Devlin says he still hasn't given up on making sequels, preferably with original stars Kurt Russell and James Spader back as Jack O'Neill and Daniel Jackson:

"We actually wrote it as a trilogy of movies, but we were never able to do parts two and three. So our hope is, now that the series is starting to wind down, that maybe it will be time to actually get to do parts two and three. We're still hopeful that we'll get to come back and tell the rest of that story. I think it'll change a little bit from our original idea since so many years have passed. We wanted to explore the idea of how the Stargates were built originally, and where else in the universe they exist, and why they exist - and where else they exist on Earth. We had really planned out, as a trilogy of films, to allow this mythology to grow bigger and bigger."

Doctor Who

Steven Moffat has reportedly confirmed that there will be thirteen new episodes in 2012...except the source on this is a French article translated into English, and presumably the original reporters translated his comments from English to French, so we're potentially talking about two levels of garbled translation here. (Yeah...we're never getting a straight answer on all this, are we?) Anyway, until we hear more, Moffat apparently said that thirteen episodes will air in 2012, although "there will be a change in the mode of distribution," whatever that means. Moffat also reportedly said the BBC has approached the production team about the 50th anniversary, and there are "ambitious plans" for that. He also said that Rory won't die any more, but that his death(s) have a "pay-off." [Life, Doctor who, and Combom]

Torchwood: Miracle Day

Here are three sneak peeks.

Here's a video interview with John Barrowman in which he promises "full-on, naked sex."

Here are some teasers for episode one:

- There's a cheeky reference to a deceased former Torchwood member (and no, it's not Ianto). [This narrows it down to...every other Torchwood character we've ever seen.]
- The chief villains from Torchwood: Children of Earth also get a mention, in a roundabout sort of way.
- A certain drug familiar to Torchwood fans is utilised once again. [If that isn't Retcon, I'd be shocked.]
- After lurking in the shadows for a while, Captain Jack makes a suitably heroic return.
- Wales is the British equivalent of New Jersey.

As a Brit and a New Jerseyan, I... I'm not sure about that one. Anyway, there are more at the link. [Life, Doctor Who, and Combom]

True Blood

Here are three sneak peeks for the next episode, "If You Love Me, Why Am I Dyin'?":

The Walking Dead

Lauren Cohan discusses her new character Maggie Greene:

"If Maggie's entrance is anything to go by, we have a lot to look forward to. She wears jeans, kick-ass boots and rides a horse. She's very steely and views Glenn as a leader and the cutest of the bunch. When you walk in [the farm], you get a sense of the happy family memories that were there and the desperation of how they live now."

Falling Skies

Stargate (TV)

Stargate Universe actress Alaina Huffman explains why it's unlikely we'll be seeing any continuation of the TV franchise in the near future.

Teen Wolf

Here's a description for episode seven, "Night School":

The gang gets trapped in the high school overnight, and they're under the threat of attack from a powerful werewolf, who's trying to get in.
