Many people would assume that the hero of Doctor Who is the time-traveling main character, played by the rakishly British Matt Smith. But it's not so. The real stand-out hero of the new series is the steadfast (and studly) Rory Williams.

And we've got the video collection to prove it. Watch the evolution of the show's true hero, in our collection of the sexiest moments featuring Rory, played by Arthur Darvill.

At first glance, it looks like Rory is easy to take for granted — he clings to his sexy babe in her tight skirt (while she not only kisses an alien, but runs away with him the night before their wedding). He's understanding — maybe too understanding. But as time goes by, you realize that even though Amy appears to be calling the shots, it's Rory who's steering the ship in this relationship. Watch as he goes from the skinny youth in the scrubs to the Last Centurion.

I used to think I was alone in championing Rory Williams as the true hero of Doctor Who — until I went to a fan meet up in NYC, when the cast was there. The screams were much louder for the boy who waited than for the last Time Lord, hand to TARDIS.

This video is in chronological order and thus goes:

The Eleventh Hour
Vampires of Venice
Amy's Choice
The Hungry Earth
Cold Blood
The Pandorica Opens
The Big Bang
Flesh & Stone
Day of the Moon
The Curse of the Black Spot
A Good Man Goes to War (I flipped two of the scenes in this so we could end with a bang, literally).

Although, you could argue that the most romantic Rory moment (and the most revealing of his character) isn't even a scene he's in, but rather the narration at the museum, explaining the legend of "The Last Centurion" who protected the Pandorica. What's your favorite Rory moment? Do you like how he's grown? Is there anywhere left for him to go but down?
