David Cronenberg has penned a sequel to The Fly — so why aren't we drenched in acid fly vomit yet?

Years ago, rumor had it that David Cronenberg was remaking his insect body-splicing movie The Fly for Fox. Turns out we were misled: it wasn't a remake, it's a sequel. And Cronenberg's already written the screenplay. So what's the hold-up?

In an interview with STYD, Cronenberg revealed that it's all up to the studio:

"The Fly is not exactly a remake, it's sort of a sequel, kinda. Yeah, that was a thing. I've written a script of that, and I don't know if that's going to really happen, but that has to do with Fox."

We're pretty shocked that the sequel- and remake-obsessed movie industry would pass on an already-written Cronenberg horror script. Here's hoping the collective furor of the internet gets this project on the fast-track.
