The new anime movie REDLINE looks like addictive fun, thanks to a never-ending supply of pew-pew-pew lasers, heat-seeking missiles and vicious robots disrupting a huge race. Just check out the clip above — which is exclusive to io9 — to see a couple minutes of the car-racing, explosive action.
REDLINE is the work of director Takeshi Koike, who was an animator on The Animatrix, Dead Leaves and Samurai Champloo, and also directed the short film Trava – Fist Planet. And it's the work of MADHOUSE, the studio that gave us Paprika and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time. REDLINE won rave reviews from Anime News Network, and snagged the Audience Official Selection Award for Animation at Fantasia and the Outstanding Achievement in Feature Filmmaking – Animation Award at the Newport Beach Film Festival.
REDLINE is getting a theatrical release in L.A. on Dec. 2 and in NYC on Jan. 6, and then comes out on DVD Jan. 17. Check out the trailer at left.
