Taiwan missed out on this alien walker tower

The Taichung City skyline could have been a lot more alien. The city government recently held an architecture competition to design the Taiwan Tower, and Soma Architecture proposed this alien beauty.

Participants in the International Taiwan Tower Complex Competition were asked to provide concept designs inspired by nature, and Soma presented this fibrous complex, titled "Multiple Natures," employing a nature-inspired movement and flow. Soma took second prize in the competition, losing out to Sou Fujimoto Architects, which designed a triangular building that almost appears to be made from a cage of loosely placed bamboo. It's a stately, simple design, but I can't help but feel the city missed out. You know that when the aliens landed, they would have gone straight for this baby.
