Tim Burton returns to the realm of stop-motion animation with Frankenweenie, a remake of his 1984 short film about a boy who can't bear to part with his deceased pooch. This preview makes me want to resurrect my dead childhood mutts, until I remember they were all tremendously incontinent. Here's the synopsis via Yahoo:

After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life - with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor's fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new "leash on life" can be monstrous.

It's worth mentioning that Burton was canned from Disney for the original Frankenweenie, which the Mouse House deemed too scary for children. Frankenweenie will hit theaters October 5.
