This week's comics are chock full of the Age of Apocalypse and the princesses from Fables

It's Comics We Crave here, back again with your Wednesday comic haul. Let's kick things off with this week's #1 issues. First off, one of the more promising scifi debuts this week is Manhattan Project by Jonathan Hickman and Nick Pitarra, which is about secret World War II weird science projects:

What if the research and development department created to produce the first atomic bomb was a front for a series of other, more unusual, programs? What if the union of a generation's brightest minds was not a signal for optimism, but foreboding? What if everything…went wrong?

There's also the David Lapham-penned Age of Apocalypse series — which spins off of Rick Remender's Uncanny X-Force — Grace Randolph's superhero book Supurbia, and a new start for Marv Wolfman's Night Force. Finally, we have Fairest, a side series that focuses on the princesses of Bill Willingham's Fables (at top):

Fairest explores the secret histories of Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel, Cinderella, The Snow Queen, Thumbelina, Snow White, Rose Red and others. The first 6 issue arc follows the misadventures of Briar Rose after she is stolen away by the goblin army in Fables #107.

Grab Bag
There are new issues of Action Comics, Fatale, Sweet Tooth, iZombie, Animal Man, OMAC, Swamp Thing, Defenders, and Wolverine and The X-Men: Alpha and Omega.

Graphic Novels
A delightfully diverse bunch of graphic novels are on the stands, such as the pulpy sci-noir Terminal City, Mike Mignola and Duncan Fegredo's Hellboy: The Storm and The Fury, and illustrator Brandon Graham's back-in-print bizarro science fiction series King City:
