We've got a seriously amazing collection of indies and shorts in this Sunday's Cult Movie Worship. Check out the latest trailer for Joseph Kahn's frenetic movie equivalent of a turducken, Detention, and see if you can point out every single movie cliché stuffed inside the next. Plus, we've got zombie-killing babies, a beautiful cyborg story and an intriguing 70's-style drama about space exploration.
We watched Joseph Kahn's movie-within-a-movie-within-a movie, movieDetention over a year ago, and we STILL haven't figured out what it's really about. On April 13th the hyper color t-shirt of a movie is getting a small release, and to celebrate they've released the new trailer above as well as this clip. And while this clip does demonstrate the intense rapid plot firing delivery it simply doesn't do this movie insanity hardly any justice at all. Case in point, it's later revealed that the bully has acid blood and is secretly a fly person. So, there you have it.
Detention tells the story of the senior class at Grizzly Lake high school. The road to graduation is never an easy one, but it's further complicated for these students by the arrival of a slasher movie killer who has seemingly come to life. The only ones who can stop the killer are a handful of students, but they'll have to cut out of detention if they're to stand a chance at saving the world.
Take a look at this amazing trailer for Jon Mikel Caballero's new short Hibernation. Everything about it has us excited: the 70s look, the slow burn, how it's seemingly built around the small time this astronaut has until his blast off. We can't wait to see more!
Joseph is an astronaut, about to embark on a 50-year journey that will take him where no-one has gone before, thanks to a new Hibernation program. But as he is about to begin this journey, something happens between him and his instructor Claire, which turns certainties into doubts.
Babies killing zombies! What would happen on Walking Dead if Carl wasn't an insufferable pile of baloney? We assume it would look a lot like this quick trailer for the kiddie drama Heart Land!
The brutal allegory of a group of children in middle America struggling to survive in the wake of a zombie apocalypse.
Eduardo Sanchez (half of the The Blair Witch Project directing duo) is back with what looks like one of those strange, ambiguous horror movies. If Molly evil? Is she possessed? Or is this yet another flick about a suppressed memory come back to haunt a poor young girl. Not sure yet, but the trailer is leaning very hard on the latter.
When newlywed Molly Reynolds returns to her long-abandoned family home, frightful reminders of a nightmarish childhood begin seeping into her new life. She soon begins an inexorable descent into an evil that blurs the lines between psychosis and possession.
Behold the future of Bangkok! Check out this gorgeous trailer for the short flick True Skin. We're simply astounded by the colors and strange robotic creations!
