In Fall 2013, Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane will team up with Neil deGrasse Tyson in a bid to bring back COSMOS, the iconic television series written by Carl Sagan, his wife Ann Druyan, and astrophysicist Steven Soter. Druyan and Soter will co-produce with MacFarlane, and Tyson will be filling the shoes of Sagan as host of the series, which is scheduled to air on Fox.

We're obviously excited for the show, but that should come at no surprise; more important is whether the reboot will have what it takes to not only capture the attention of a more general audience, but rekindle in that audience a real interest in the universe that surrounds us. In the video featured here, Forbes' Dorothy Pomerantz talks with MacFarlane about his role in bringing the show back to life, and whether it can "save science." You can check out Pomerantz's write-up over on Forbes.
