Interactive Lord of the Rings timeline shows exactly where in Middle Earth Tolkien's adventures took place

If you've spent hours flipping back and forth between the J.R.R. Tolkien's maps of Middle Earth and the prose in The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, then take some time with Emil Johansson's interactive chronology of the series, which lets you hover over an event and see just where it took place.

We've already featured Johansson's quest to map the entire Middle Earth family tree, but this is yet another component of his larger Lord of the Rings Project. He's mapping the entire LOTR timeline, from Age of Trees to the Fourth Age. It's not complete yet, but it's a handy way to track the journeys of individual characters, which you can opt to color code. Hopefully, once he's done, he'll consider coming up with a stagnant map tracing the paths of each major character.
