This 500-pound Darth Vader cake could feed the entire Death Star

Have you ever wondered what Darth Vader would look like if he hailed from Candyland? After building a 300-pound, Imperial-stormtrooper-shaped pastry earlier this year, the bakers at Amanda Oakleaf Cakes upped the ante and recreated Anakin Skywalker out of gâteau. This Sith dessert was served last weekend at the 501st Legion Banquet for Star Wars Celebration VI. Here are his stats:

In total he weighed just over 500 lbs, stood 6 feet 7 inches tall, and fed 600 hungry Legion members. The most interesting and challenging part of this cake was actually the cape, which by itself was over 100 lbs of our marshmallow fondant, which freely hung from his shoulders five and a half feet above the ground. Also of note is Vader's light saber, which was a single, solid piece of watermelon flavored poured sugar.

You can see the full building process here. 100-pound marshmallow capes are the new hot intergalactic despot accessory. Hat tip to Frogurt.
