Chronicle's Max Landis creating a superhero show for FoxS

Chronicle was one of the sharpest movies about superpowers and teen angst we've seen in ages — so we're excited that its writer, Max Landis, is penning a new superhero show for Fox. In Vigilant, a young woman creates a fictional vigilante identity to take down corruption in the police department. (Shades of the most recent incarnation of Manhunter, perhaps?)

Here's how the Hollywood Reporter describes Vigilant:

The project is described as a "superhero" origin story told through the unlikely point of view of a smart 20-year-old woman who happens to be a social outcast. After an honorable veteran detective is brutally coerced into working for the corrupt head of Internal Affairs, the detective's daughter plans her revenge by creating a fictional vigilante persona to take on the criminal elements within the police department and the city.

It sounds pretty promising — let's hope it stays grounded, but also includes some awesome superhero gear. [THR]
