The Wolverine

Hugh Jackman might not be the only original X-Man to show up in Wolverine's latest spin-off movie. The latest rumor from an inside source — so grains of salt at the ready, everyone — claims that Famke Janssen recently flew to Sydney to film a cameo appearance as Jean Grey. In terms of the franchise's internal logic, her appearance would be theoretically possible if perhaps not entirely plausible, considering The Wolverine is likely a prequel to the original X-Men trilogy. For what it's worth, Janssen recently gave some potentially leading "no comment" answers when asked about her possible involvement in X-Men: Days of Future Past — so its conceivable that she was simply asked about the wrong X-Men movie. Deadpool

Speaking of X-Men spin-off movies, Goon director Tim Miller offered this update on where the Deadpool solo movie stands, which would feature Ryan Reynolds reprising the role from the first Wolverine:

"We've turned in an amazing script and done some early tests and visual development that—I'm confident—would get the fans stoked. And Ryan still loves the project. So it's really up to Fox as to whether or not the film happens—all I can do is hope (and beg periodically) that it be allowed to move ahead."

Kick-Ass 2

Comics creator Mark Millar offers this report from the London set, which apparently is currently the site of one hell of a fight sequence:

As a producer, I've been watching a lot of this in the dropbox as it happens, but nothing compares to seeing Mother Russia (in the flesh) pounding Hit-Girl in the face in what WE KNOW is going to win MTV's Best Fight Scene Award already. I'm not kidding... this fight is unlike anything I've seen in cinema before. I'd watched the stunt team block it out a few weeks back, but this was astonishing. The movie is being edited as happens and so, at the halfway point in shooting, I have about 40 edited minutes to watch in the suite during lunch-breaks. Blown Away is an understatement. everything is working perfectly and Vaughn was correct when he told me to trust his judgement when he hand-picked Jeff Wadlow for this gig. This feels like the next chapter of something we all dug a great deal, incredibly consistent with what came before, but at the same time going a little darker and a lot bigger as Dave joins the team.

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea

The Social Network director David Fincher is still trying to get his adaptation of the Jules Verne classic off the ground, and he may just have received a huge boost in that particular effort. His Fight Club and Curious Case of Benjamin Button star Brad Pitt is reportedly the top choice to play Nautilus harpooner Ned Land, the part played by Kirk Douglas in the 1964 movie. That doesn't mean Pitt will actually appear in the movie — by all accounts, he's still deciding what he wants to do next year — but his involvement would likely make Disney significantly more likely to give the movie the green light . Robopocalypse

While discussing his new prestige drama Lincoln, director Steven Spielberg offered this somewhat curious quote:

"I knew I could do the action in my sleep at this point in my career. In my life, the action doesn't hold any — it doesn't attract me anymore."

The reason why that quote is at least mildly curious is that his next project is thought to be the almost certainly action-heavy Robopocalypse. This is likely an instance of Spielberg just focusing on his current project to the exclusion of all others, but this probably isn't the best evidence that Spielberg is totally committed to Robopocalypse as his next project. Transformers 4

The latest casting calls for Michael Bay's fourth Transformers movie seems to confirm that the leads will be a female "high school senior" and "her 20-21 year old boyfriend" who was "raised in Texas [and] drives racecars." The new information is that Transformers 4 will apparently be "filmed in various locations overseas", with London seemingly the primary location. I suppose that last tidbit might lend some support to that whole Jason Statham casting rumor, but that's purely speculation on my part. [Mandy.com]

Supernatural

Misha Collins offers some intriguing teasers about what's ahead for Castiel, starting with a possible reexamination of the circumstances of Dean's escape from purgatory:

"That very moment is a pivotal moment. I think Dean is confused about what happened at that moment and won't actually find out what happened then until episode 7. It's going to take a while to see that moment play out...[Castiel will be ]reinvigorated with a sense of purpose. He essentially feels like he has to do good in order to right the wrongs of his past. So he starts to collaborate with Sam and Dean for that reason - so that he can continue to try to make things right. He's no longer paying penance, really, because it's no longer an act of suffering for him. But he's doing his best to right the wrongs of his past." Doing so won't be as easy as he hopes, however. "He's doing that in ways that help Sam and Dean and then, ultimately, it might also make life - as per usual with the Supernatural universe - complicated for Sam and Dean. At first, it seems like everything is hunky dory. But things quickly fall apart."

Arrow

The Vampire Diaries

Star Joseph Morgan discusses what's ahead for Klaus and Caroline:

We'll certainly see their relationship - but I don't mean relationship in the sense that they're dating - but we'll certainly see the dynamic between them develop...[The Klaus/Caroline storyline] brings out Klaus' humanity. I love playing the more charming side of him and the scenes with Caroline really allow me to do that. So I hope he has a shot with her. I think everyone deserves love and a second chance. I wonder how much of a compromise he'd have to make in order for her to come around to him and whether he will be able to make that compromise."
