Transcendence

Plot details about this movie, produced by Christopher Nolan and directed by his longtime cinematographer Wally Pfister, are starting to come out. And it sounds like Pfister and Nolan are joining Roland Emmerich in trying to bring the Singularity to the multiplex:

The story follows three scientists, attempting work on stem cell and advanced computer technology, which will change the fundamentals of human life. Tension comes into play when they are met by protest and resistance.

Hibernation

If you had electricity last week, you may have heard that Justin Lin (Fast and Furious) may be directing the science fiction comedy Subdivision. Now it's looking like he may also be attached to direct the science fiction not-comedy Hibernation, by new screenwriters Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Will Frank. There are no plot details at this time. [The Hollywood Reporter]

Beastlies

First Plot Synopsis for Christopher Nolan and Wally Pfister's Mysterious Transcendence!

Hey, remember way back a couple years ago when we were making fun of movies that were based on board games? How about movies (and TV shows!) based on Etsy crafts? Yes, they're very cute. Yes, it's a J.J. Abrams animation project. Yes, I've run out reasons to make fun of this. They're so cute! [Slashfilm]

Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2

The many viewers of Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1, who weren't planning on seeing Part 2 because they knew how it ended, need not fear! Taylor Lautner told The Tonight Show the end of the movie is different from the books:

"[T]here's a twist, because the ending — I don't wanna give anything away — is a little different from maybe, what was in the book….You know, there's a very thin line because the fans would freak on us if we changed anything too much... I can confirm there is a twist and I can confirm everybody can find out what it is on November 16."

Here are a bunch of clips and some B-roll from the film. [Coming Soon]

The Wolverine

Director James Mangold has already made it clear that his film isn't beholden to the continuity established by the other films in the X-Franchise, and now he elaborates:

I wanted to be able to tell the story without the burden of handing it off to a film that already exists and having to conform to it.

What else does this noncomformist promise? "[A] Japanese noir film with tentpole action in it." And here are two behind the scene pictures that promise snow and ninjas. At the same time! [Comic Book Resources]

Fringe

Say goodbye to the maddest mad scientist, most duplicated doubles and flariest lenses on television, on January 18th, 2013, when Fox airs the two-hour series finale. [Coming Soon]

But before we get to the end, we'll need to go "Through the Looking Glass and What Walter Found There." Here's the promo for this Friday's new episode:

S.H.I.E.L.D.

Joss Whedon's attempt to turn one of the most successful movies of all time into a hit TV show begins filming in mid-January. It's a little early in the pilot season, but not unheard of for a major show. Casting news should start leaking any day now, but we'll probably have to wait for upfronts to find out actual air dates. [Comic Book Resources]

The Walking Dead

TV Guide interviewed showrunner Glen Mazzara, who had some interesting things to say about the Governor, and how he deviates from his comic book counterpart.

It's interesting. There's a texture. It makes him more unpredictable. The fact that he goes back and forth between good and evil, it makes him feel more real and accessible. It's more complicated. If the Governor is a straightforward villain from the beginning, then you just really get into an escalation of violence every week. We're more interested in a sinister twist and turn every week... If he can control walkers, or if he could understand them, that lays in with his agenda, which I think is not just power over a little town; I think this guy wants to build an empire. I think he sees himself as a historical figure on the world's stage. He sees himself as a future emperor. By controlling walkers, he can control people.

Supernatural

Here's a preview for Wednesday night's new episode "Southern Comfort." [KSite TV]

Sam and Dean are in for some more time-travel shenanigans, only this time they're staying put. Episode 12, "As Time Goes By," features some late-1950s anti-demon cultists who wind up in 2013. Our time travelers are Henry, who's like "Robert Downey Jr. meets Cary Grant," and Josie, a "Katherine Hepburn type." Apparently, the Doris Day and Rock Hudson types were all busy. Expect the story to involve Harry's son, who would now be in his 60s, a demon and a mysterious artifact. [Zap2It and Spoiler TV]

The Clone Wars

The first fallout of Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm will be felt at Cartoon Network. The Clone Wars will probably be leaving Cartoon Network at the end of the season, for a move to Disney XD, Disney's boy-oriented cable channel. Though nothing is finalized, Cartoon Network's contract is reportedly only through the end of the 2013 season and Disney XD is chock full of shows from Disney's recent purchase, Marvel. [The Hollywood Reporter]

Powers

This superhero show filmed a pilot a while back, which FX wound up rejecting, with the hope of retooling the show into something the network could accept — a similar process to what happened with Sons of Anarchy. Now, Latino Review has reported that the show already filmed a second pilot — and FX rejected that one, too. This report has been vociferously denied by writer Brian Michael Bendis on Twitter:

"Reports in Latino Review about the Powers pilot are 100% false. Every name and fact are incorrect. Except for where they like my writing."

Haven

I literally just had a friend ask me whether or not I thought the Uncharted cast would get together on Haven. And now, I can tell him they will!

Last week's episode was the first in a two-parter and co-starred Claudia Black (the voice of Chloe Frazer) as Moira, "a woman whose bitterness makes her capable of murder." The second half of that episode will air this Friday. And on December 6, Nolan North (the voice of Nathan Drake) will make an appearance as "the charismatic and witty Will" — the only person in Haven who has not "fallen into a mysterious sleep with potentially deadly consequences."

The weirdest thing about this? Even though they all starred in the Uncharted games with Emily Rose (Audrey Parker on Haven, voice of Elena Fischer in Uncharted) this was probably the first time they actually worked together, since voice over artists usually record their parts individually. Arrow

First Plot Synopsis for Christopher Nolan and Wally Pfister's Mysterious Transcendence!

Entertainment Weekly has the first picture of the Huntress (at left) plus an interview with executive producer Andrew Kreisberg about her updated costume:

For the Huntress - she's basically wearing a cape and a purple bikini in the comic. That wouldn't play so well. So her costume is much more functional while also being sexy and you see there are also hints of purple, which ties into her comic book costume. We also think that on our show, no one is wearing a costume — they are uniforms or outfits. Also, in the comic, Helena is devoutly Catholic. You can see in the Kevlar she's wearing on her chest, it's actually in the shape of a cross, which we thought was really cool… She wears a cross around her neck and that plays a key role in the episode. We don't touch too much upon the religion, but the iconography is certainly there from the comic books. You can see the DNA of the comic book version in the outfit that our Helena wears.

[Entertainment Weekly]

But Huntress isn't the only new character stopping by the Queen's residence. "In episode 12, we're going to meet Laxer, who will be a potential recurring villain … And he's not some run-of-the-mill nemesis; he's intense, scary and a real badass." And it sounds like he's a newly created character, not anybody from the comics. [E Online]

Revolution

Episode 1.09, airing on November 19th, is entitled Kashmir. What's in store for the electricity-less folks on television who don't live in low-lying areas of the Eastern Seaboard? Apparently hallucinations: "Miles (Billy Burke) and the gang are bound for Monroe's (David Lyons) lair – Independence Hall, but their efforts are impeded when they begin to have difficulty separating fantasy from reality. Meanwhile, Danny (Graham Rogers) starts to grow suspicious of Rachel (Elizabeth Mitchell)." [Spoiler TV]

Vampire Diaries

Caroline is headed to the pageant, but it's on Klaus's arm and not her regular beau Tyler's. This is so not good news for Caroline and Tyler's relationship. [E Online]

And here's a preview of episode 405, "The Killers:" [K Site TV]

Grimm

I really don't know how we got this far in television without this title coming up, but here we are at last. Episode 2x11 is entitled "To Protect and Serve Man." Genius.

And here's the promo. [ Spoiler TV]

Doctor Who

Here's a bit of casting new for the second half of season seven: actress Celia Imrie (Kate MacLeod in Highlander) will co-star. [ Blogtor Who]
