The fantasy comics series ElfQuest is a beloved 1970s and 1980s staple — which kind of makes it perfect for a movie in 2012. What with The Smurfs and Alvin and the Chipmunks hitting it big, and the blasphemous CG remake of The Brave Little Toaster on the horizon, Hollywood's doors are open to nostalgic movie-making.

Combine that nostalgia factor with the rising popularity of fantasy, and Wendy and Richard Pini's The World of Two Moons is perfect for a movie. According to Variety the creators of the recent fan film ElfQuest: A Fan Imagining, Stephanie Thorpe and Paula Rhodes, have acquired the actual rights to ElfQuest. And they're taking the property in a "new direction." Any direction that includes getting an actual ElfQuest film made is good news in our book.
