Here is your possibly leaked Star Wars: Episode VII plot of the day

In celebration of the Earth's impending Mayan-mandated apocalypse, the good folks of the Reuters news agency decided to take a look at some Mayan temples, including the one seen in the background of the original Star Wars movie (on Yavin-4, to be specific). Tucked inside this little article was a bit of a thermal detonator:

Yavin 4 and the rebel base return to the Star Wars plot in the forthcoming Episode VII, announced in October by the Walt Disney Co, in which Skywalker comes back to the planet to build a Jedi Knight academy. However, fans said that Disney will likely film those scenes in a studio rather than return to Tikal.

UhWHAAAH? Episode VII is going to be about the Jedi Academy? Will it be based on the long-running young adult books at all? Is it something new? More importantly, does this statement have any basis in fact?

I'm guessing not. I find it hard to believe that if Reuters had the first confirmation of
Episode VII's story, it would bury it in 2/3rds of the way down in a piece on Mayan temples. In fact, I'd guess reporter Mike McDonald saw someone referring to the Jedi Academy as the future of the Star Wars universe, almost certainly online somewhere, and believed they were referring to the movies, instead of of the expanded universe books. It's a pretty reasonable mistake to make for a non-Star Wars fan.

But who knows? Maybe the reporter knows a guy who knows a guy. Maybe he's dating new Lucasfilm exec Kathleen Kennedy, and she revealed the plot during a steamy, late-night love-making session. Or maybe he's guessing, but it'll turn out he's right. Who knows?
