While the flesh and blood Doctor was busy saving Christmas in Victorian London, the Doctor Puppet got his very own Christmas special, one set in New York City that, coincidentally, features a (much friendlier) talking snowman.

Animator Alisa Stern says she actually wrote the script for How the Doctor Puppet Saved Christmas and made the snowman puppet before the BBC announced Doctor Who's "The Snowmen." Her snowman, however, evokes the Rankin-Bass stop-motion specials, especially Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, rather than the murderous snow creatures Matt Smith fought this week.
