New Pacific Rim concept art proves that once again Guillermo del Toro thinks about monsters in a realistic manner uncommon to Hollywood. Take a look at the skull of a fallen Kaiju, stripped of its flesh and scales (or whatever matter covered this beastie) and half-converted into a temple. The scaffolding around the bottom looks like it's still in the process of construction. We love this insightful twist on the giant robots-battling-giant monsters movie. What happens after the battle? What do the people of Earth do with giant rotting corpses of fallen Kaijus? Apparently they just keep on keepin' on.

The concept art is from Total Film, which is releasing a Pacific Rim-filled issue, which will include shots like the Temple Skull and this other piece of art that reveals the Russian Jaegar (monster-fighting robot) "Cherno Alpha." This gorgeous work was created by concept artist Doug Williams.
