Crowdfund games based on chemistry and Machine of Death, and bid on art to support a short by Pixar artists

Machine of Death, the science fiction anthology that pissed off Glenn Beck, is back in the form of a macabre card game, and you can help fund the production. If you prefer your games grounded in science, there's also a chemistry-themed strategy game, and the clock is ticking on sending in your pledge. Plus, a bit on funding that isn't crowdfunding—bid on art by Pixar artists to fund their independently produced short film.

Compounded: Better Gaming Through Chemistry: If tabletop games have taught us anything, it's that people will learn and apply massive amounts of information when victory is at stake. Compounded is a strategy game that forces players to apply real chemistry. Here's the pitch:

Compounded is a game about building chemical compounds through careful management of elements, a fair bit of social play and trading, and just a bit of luck. In Compounded, players take on the roles of lab managers, hastily competing to complete the most compounds before they are completed by others – or destroyed in an explosion. Some compounds are flammable and will grow more and more volatile over time; take too long to gather the necessary elements for those compounds and a lot of hard work will soon be scattered across the lab.

For a $42 pledge, you can get a copy of the game. There's less than half a day left on this campaign, so if you want to throw your money their way, do it now. [via GeekDad]

Machine of Death: The Game of Creative Assassination: The premise behind the Machine of Death anthologies is that there exists a machine that predicts how you will die—always correctly, although not always specifically. In the card game, you play an assassin, and you're given a target and that target's fated death, and you have to figure out how to make that death happen now. (The wacky example they give is figuring out how someone will die of banana peel on a space station.) For a $25 pledge, you'll receive both a physical and a PDF copy of the game. For a $30 pledge, you'll receive both versions of game as well as a PDF physical copy of the first Machine of Death anthology. [via Wondermark]

Short Film by Pixar Artists: Pixar artists Dice Tsutsumi and Robert Kondo are working on an independent short film and are starting production this month. They haven't decided if they're going to launch a crowdfunding campaign, but for the time being, they're raising money the old fashioned way: by selling stuff. They have an auction up at eBay where they're auctioning off some of the exploratory art they've created for the short. [via Cartoon Brew]
