Meet io9's new staffer, George Dvorsky

Say hello to io9's new staff writer George Dvorsky. We've installed his brain implant, and today he's ready to begin a new life as part of our hive mind, where he'll be writing about futurism, culture, and science.

George is a well-known blogger and podcaster. He is a founding member of the Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies and currently serves as Chair of the Board. George is also the founder and program director for the IEET's Rights of Nonhuman Persons program, an initiative to see extended rights and protections granted to highly sapient animals. George's specialties include such topics as human enhancement, neuroscience, artificial intelligence, evolutionary biology, personhood theory, gender issues, and the search for extraterrestrial intelligence. His work has been covered by The New York Times, Forbes, and Slate, and he has been interviewed by the Guardian, BBC, CBC, and al-Jazeera. A science fiction junkie, George's favorites include the Dune saga, Solaris, Blade Runner, Ghost in the Shell, and Contact. He is also an avid Crossfitter, an ancestral health enthusiast, and an accomplished music performer, composer, and recording engineer. And if you ever go to Burning Man, you might just find him hanging out at Future Camp.

Welcome, George! We hope you like your io9 neuro-enhancement device!
