It's one of those sentences you never expect to read: the producers of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo are creating a spoof of Space 1999, the classic 1970s moonbase drama, and they want you to kick in $350,000. Oh, and did I mention it features bikini-wearing reality TV stars on the Moon?

Meet Project Moonbase, the show that Authentic Entertainment is trying to raise money for on Kickstarter. It's got a fairly convoluted plot, as spelled out in the bizarrely entertaining sampler video above. NASA runs out of funding, and needs to get Hollywood money, so they turn their moonbase into a reality TV show, with stock reality-TV actors living with the astronauts. That's wacky enough — but then an explosion sends the Moon flying out of orbit, and it leaves the solar system fast enough to visit tons of alien worlds, just like on Space 1999. So you've got reality TV actors on a moonbase zooming to alien planets. Still with us?

Here's a sizzle reel featuring extended versions of the scenes in the above video:

It's definitely of the wackiest things I've seen this week. But would you put your own money into this project? Apparently that's a difficult calculation for many people, since it only has $10,000 out of the $350,000 target, with just 19 days remaining. [via Deadline]
