Explorers, the little known film by Joe Dante about a couple of kids who build a spaceship, is getting a full-fledged reboot, thus creating the first remake from our childhood that we're really indifferent towards.

THR is reporting that Paramount's smaller Insurge label has hired the writers behind Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol and the upcoming Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec movie to produce the picture, while Geoff Moore and Dave Posamentier have been chose to write the script. The original movie helped introduce (but certainly didn't launch the careers of) Ethan Hawke and River Phoenix, and as you can see in the original trailer, they look like teeny, tiny babies.

Well at least this is the first YARM that doesn't get us all hot and bothered. Unlike The Birds remake.
