An Interactive Map That Lets You Spin Around The Milky Way Galaxy!

A new interactive panoramic lets you a take a full 360° tour of our galaxy — complete with a few stops along the way.

It's the work of NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope, and is made up of almost 2 million snaps of the galaxy taken by the telescope, all stitched together into a single panoramic view that can also be zoomed in at any point.

The panorama focuses on a pretty thin band of sky — just 3% of the total sky visible to us — but that thin slice was well chosen. NASA says that little patch of sky still shows us more than half of all the stars in the galaxy.

You can check out the whole thing at the Spitzer Space Telescope website here.
