That Terrible, Depressing Fantastic Four Rumor? Totally Not True

Rumor has it Batman Vs. Superman will see the Justice League form without Superman. The live-action Ghost in the Shell movie has a director. Matt Damon raves about Christopher Nolan's Interstellar. Is the Agent Carter show filming soon? Plus, is Neil Blomkamp directing the pilot of the Halo TV show? Spoilers now!

Batman Vs. Superman

Here's some more rumors about the plot, supposedly given to NeoGaf poster "James Woods" by someone who used to work for the film's art department. Minus any more information than that, the usual "grain of salt" warnings apply.

So here goes: The main villains of the film will be Metallo and Lex Luthor, with Luthor playing the "manipulator in the shadows" role. As a result of the damage caused by the battle in Man of Steel, Batman is part of some sort of group determined to keep such a thing from happening again. Since the rumors also put Aquaman in this group, it may be that this'll be the Justice League. (Zod's antics apparently wreaked havoc with the fish and seas.) A mostly Superman-less League, since the report has him in exile while this happens.

The rumors continue on to describe a bleak life for Batman. Robin committed some sort of betrayal, causing a rift to form between him and Batman. Meanwhile, Wonder Woman has gone undercover, acting as a mole inside Wayne Enterprises. She's supposedly tracking an item that the Amazonians want.

Once again, take all of this with many grains of salt. [K Drama Stars]

There have also been sightings of Zack Snyder on campus at Michigan State and at the "Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum," so those may be locations used in the upcoming film. [Coming Soon]

Interstellar

Most of the details of this Christopher Nolan film are still be kept under wraps. But we know that Matt Damon filmed a small part for a few weeks of filming. He described the experience, telling MTV:

I don't have a big part. I was thrilled to be able to work with Chris and I had a blast working with him . . . . I really had so much fun and Matthew [McConaughey]... talk about being in the zone. He's really just crushing everything right now. I think it's gonna be great. I think it's gonna be just another big, awesome Chris Nolan movie with awesome performances from Matthew and Ann [Hathaway].

[MTV]

In an video interview with HitFix, which is below, Damon reiterates the same points. He adds that Nolan works with a "big canvas."

Contrast Damon's approach to co-star David Gyasi, who went a bit more philosophical in his description of the film, saying:

Human beings are adventurers, aren't we, and that's what were put on here to do… To go further and investigate and go beyond and I think space travel is… We had this massive push to get to the moon and it kind of stopped a little bit so… Maybe as filmmakers, everyone's going 'Come on guys, let's keep going, let's see what else is out there and see what else we can find,' and it's so vast. Years ago, it was this mad thing called the ocean that people were like 'What lies beyond?' and it's like that [space] is now our next barrier. I think that's where the fascination comes from.

His full video interview is below, too. [Screen Rant]

Fantastic Four

Acting Auditions posted a plot description for this upcoming reboot:

The Fantastic Four will tell the tale of two very young friends, Reed Richards and Ben Grimm. After an event transforms the boys, they find themselves empowered with bizarre new abilities. Reed becomes a scientific genius who can stretch, twist and re-shape his body to inhuman proportions. Ben becomes a monstrous, craggy humanoid with orange, rock-like skin and super-strength. However, the two end up being owned by the government and used as weapons. But after they mature, two others with powers come into the picture – Sue Storm "The Invisible Girl" and Johnny Storm "The Human Torch."

This had people speculating about just how far the film's storyline would stray from the comics. However, Trank took to Twitter to debunk its authenticity. He tweeted:

And while there's always the chance he's lying to throw people off the scent, it seems like his rebuttal is genuine. [Slashfilm]

Ghost in the Shell

Deadline's reported that Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman) has been picked by DreamWorks to direct a live-action adaptation of the anime classic. Although Sanders has a number of other projects in the pipeline, and it's not clear which he'll direct next.

The script was written by William Wheeler, who wrote three episodes of The Cape as well as the Richard Gere comedy The Hoax and Mira Nair's The Reluctant Fundamentalist. The film is being produced by Avi Arad, Ari Arad and Steven Paul. [Deadline via Coming Soon]

Robocop

Here are some video interviews with Jackie Earle Haley, Joel Kinnaman, Abbie Cornish, and Gary Oldman describing their characters.

Avengers: Age of Ultron

Governor of Valle d'Aosta, in northern Italy recently announced that the Bard Fortress and its surrounding areas will be used as shooting locations for the sequel. BadTaste.it has added that the film will be filming in the towns of Aosta, Donnas, Pont-Saint-Martin and Verrès. The crew is reported to comprise of up to 1,500 people, including 500 extras. No information yet as to whether the locations will be filmed mostly by second unit or if the main cast and crew will make their way out there, too. [Coming Soon, Coming Soon]

Terminator: Genesis

Megan Ellison's Annapurna Pictures has dropped out of funding the film, even though Ellison will retain a producer credit on the finished product. Instead, David Ellison's (her brother's) company Skydance will finance the film with Paramount. Skydance will pay about two-thirds of the costs, with Paramount paying the rest.

Annapurna got the ball rolling on this relaunch of the series in 2011, when it outbid Lionsgate for the rights. Megan Ellison said in a statement, "We have been working closely with the filmmakers and have the utmost faith in their abilities. We love this project and the direction it is going in, but for now Annapurna's primary focus is to produce independent films. As I am staying on as executive producer, I am looking forward to working closely with David and Paramount to make a film that will live up to the brands' legacy and one that I know audiences will love." Halo

The Latino Review's reporting that Neil Blomkamp will be directing the pilot of the proposed Halo TV series. On one hand, this makes sense because Blomkamp has made a series of Halo-based short films and was working on a film adaptation. On the other hand, when that fell through, he said he wasn't sure he wanted to return to the project. So make of the rumor what you will. [Slashfilm]

Agents of SHIELD

We've already heard that Agents of SHIELD will feature Sif, Deathlok, and Lorelei. Here are a few more details about Deathlok's appearance, courtesy of Marvel:

A classic Marvel Comics icon who is celebrating his 40th anniversary this year, Deathlok will be brought to live-action life for first time ever on the all-new episode of "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." premiering Tuesday, February 4 at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC.

Transformed into the cybernetic solider against his will, Mike Peterson (J. August Richards) must struggle to find the man in the machine. With a high-tech eye that allows him to see through walls, super strength and increased speed courtesy of a cybernetic leg, will Deathlok fight alongside the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. or against them?

"We have been waiting all season for this moment where we can reveal that Mike Peterson's story arc is an origin story," said Executive Producer Jeffrey Bell. "We're thrilled to have J. August Richards playing Deathlok and to have our audience enjoy this favorite Marvel character on the show."

"If you would have asked when I was nine-years old what I wanted to be, I would have said a super hero and I'm so excited to be one now as an adult on TV!" added J. August Richards. "It's a dream come true."

We also now know that Sif will show up searching for Lorelei. Said Jeph Loeb:

She's here to hunt down another Marvel character. Lorelei is from Asgard. She's a beautiful redhead who has the ability to sway men's minds. She has this in her own unique way of speaking.

Sleepy Hollow

Executive producer Mark Goffman previewed where we'd next find each character imperiled by the season finale. Goffman hinted that Abbie might be spending quite a while in Purgatory, but that "unlikely people" will come to her aid there. As for Ichabod, Goffman says that this is a plot that'll have to be resolved quickly:

He's not immortal like his son. He's not a warlock, so Ichabod Crane only has a very brief amount of time that he's going to be able to survive in that coffin without air.

Goffman also said that Jenny is alive, but that she'll need a lot of help to get out of her wrecked car. He said that he hopes it happens in time for Jenny to help the others. As for Irving, Goffman confirmed what's been hinted at before: he won't be spending too long in jail. Goffman sad:

He and his friends, his powerful friends, are going to have to figure out how to get him out of that mess. He's got a couple of clues that are going to help him come back.

Vampire Diaries

Episode 17 will introduce Markos, a "charismatic but imposing leader from a faraway land." He'll be dark, but able to amass a number of followers. [E! Online]

Executive Producer Julie Plec says that Katherine's skills will probably keep her in Elena's body for a while, and that this situation is going to cause problems for Damon:

So how long will Katherine prolong her inevitable death by being inside Elena's body?

Plec: Well I can't say how long, but I can say that Katherine is one crafty little beyotch so she's not going to let anything happen that will compromise her identity. So we'll see how long she succeeds at being able to do that, but my money is on Katherine. She is notoriously pretty good at being Elena Gilbert.

. . . Damon seems like he could be heading towards a downward spiral.

Plec: Yes and no. He ends this episode with a very clear goal, which is I'm going to get my girl back — but unfortunately his girl has been hijacked. So that's going to be an interesting development for him as he works hard to get the relationship back on track. There is also this beautiful new addition in our world in the form of Enzo (Michael Malarkey) so the good thing is that whatever Damon is going through he's not alone. He can't shake Enzo whether he wants to or not.

Plec also previewed the repercussions of episode 100 and the theme of the rest of the arc:

The next chapter is how much damage can Katherine do and what are the repercussions of the events of Episode 100? Then past that towards the end, we'll start to understand how the doppelganger prophecy as believed by the Travellers [works], what it means for the remaining doppelgangers and we'll be unraveling the mysteries of the Travellers and how it's going to impact our heroes and the rest of Mystic Falls.

[TV Guide]

In another interview, Plec explained that the current plan is to keep Klaus and Caroline's hookup a one-time thing:

I wouldn't say there's never a chance for anything. I think that Caroline is very firmly established right now in the core "Vampire Diaries" universe, and Klaus is very firmly established in the New Orleans/"The Originals" universe. I wouldn't want to make any promises about what happens down the line, but I think she felt comfortable doing what she did because of the finality of it. As for what happens in the future, it's up to speculation. For now, this is for good.

Plec also previewed how the Augustine mythology will play into future storylines:

The Augustine mythology, which at this point they're done since the Augustines were eliminated in the '50s, so it's really Wes' mythology. It does dovetail with what the Travelers want. They've got buckets of doppelganger blood and they're trying to figure out what exactly they can do with it. And he's a scientist in need of financial support or a little bit of magic. So the two sides of their world meet up. We'll start to see what the Travelers' agenda can really do with a person like Wes and what Wes as a scientist can really do with a bunch of wandering magicians like the Travelers.

[Zap 2 It]

And in a third interview, Plec said that Caroline will have to deal with what happened with Klaus now that Tyler's returned:

What should be a joyful occurrence for everybody, which is Tyler returning safe and sound, has the world's most awkward timing for Caroline. She's going to have to deal with the fallout of the decision she made to give in to her feelings for Klaus.

She also noted that Bonnie's arc will line up with the greater plots at play:

She's going to start intersecting with the Traveler agenda. We're also going to meet some new witches that are going to take a particular interest in her despite the fact that she can no longer practice magic. As we get closer to the end of the season, she becomes quite integral not just to the plan to save herself and her friends from danger, but also to – in an exaggerated and yet, appropriate, phrase – save the world and everyone.

Arrow

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly Radio, Stephen Amell announced that episode 2.15 will be an island-centric episode, following the same format as last year's "The Odyssey." He also said that they built a set for this episode that will be in the "biggest shot" they've ever done. In the shot, people get blown up, get "thrown overboard" (are we back on Ivo's ship, maybe?), and a bunch of other things. The shot will start wide and zoom into Oliver in a fight.

He also said that he and Emily Bett Rickards always play the ambiguity of Oliver and Felicity's relationship, and that neither of them have concluded that anything will or won't happen. Listen to part of the interview at the link. [Entertainment Weekly]
