Star Wars: Episode VII

Devin Faraci (from Badass Digest) claims on Twitter that the Expanded Universe isn't really getting jettisoned completely — we'll still see a lot of those elements, just in a new continuity:

He also hints that maybe people are jumping to conclusions about Daisy Ridley's character being the daughter of Han Solo and Princess Leia.

Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice

A new set photo gives a good look at Superman's new costume, which looks quite different from the one in Man of Steel — even though he found that suit on board an 18,000-year-old ship, so how could he have gotten a new one? We'll find out soon enough. More at the link. [MTV]

Avatar

James Cameron insists he really has a lot more story to tell in this universe, and that's why he's putting out three more films:

There's nothing I need to say as an artist about the state of the world and human affairs that I can't do through the lens of the 'Avatar' universe. We've had a couple of years to think through the story arc of the next three films, and every day that goes by, I believe in the stories I'm telling more and more. We're not coming out of the block fast to capitalize on the last film.

Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them

The Harry Potter spin-off trilogy snagged the perfect director — David Yates, who helmed the last four Potter films. Or at least, "both sides are in negotiations." Yates is currently filming Tarzan, but the studio was keen to hire someone who already knew the Potterverse well, for this tale of Newt Scamander, the author of the Fantastic Beasts book, set 70 years before the Potter books.
