I agree, do this with small children and see what they think regarding Santa (vs. God vs. objectively real folks vs. things they know aren't real).

@Evil Tortie's Mom: I was thinking the same thing. This experiment seems woefully inadeqate. Where are the...well not control groups...but couter balances. Seems they should have tested people that believe in Santa Claus and God, as well as people that believe in neither. And if you can find them, people that believe in Santa Claus but not God. I would also test people that have imaginary friends.
I would voluneer for that group, but Fred and I had a lovers' quarrel and I had kill him. Which, if you've never tried, I warn you, it's much harder killing an imaginary person than you would...well, imagine.
