I am surprised that after the factual opening sentence that states that Diamond is being sued and there are claims that he lied, that Annalee and 99% of the commenters then go on and assume he is guilty based on anecdote, assumption and a semmingly 1st world guilt syndrome. The comments become harsh, vindictive and judgemental against Diamond even by those who haven't read his work or know who he is, when nothing has been proven in court or in the original article.
I find it funny how closed people's minds are and how easily they jump to conclusions based on previous prejudices or worldviews rather then weighing evidence with a rational mind. Reply

@Derek Sabine: Thinking that your own culture is always wrong and guilty is just as bad -- and much less understandable and defensible -- than thinking it's always right.
My culture contains the "innocent until proven guilty" meme.
At worst, he seems to have conflated and confused some things; it doesn't ruin his basic theories/analyses.

@Derek Sabine: Not to mention that the accuser in question admitted to the stories to a fact-checking team sent to verify the account: [www.forbes.com]

@Derek Sabine: No-Nothings often attack people striving to bring knowledge, especially by attacking peripheral points which don't disprove the central hypothesis. The Green-Eyed Monster is fearsome to behold.

@Fall-Apart: Wait a minute. Are you telling me, that after I waded through several dozen moronic posts of a "George Lucas raped my childhood" level of intellectual rigor, it turns out that that the accusers admitted to doing what they accused Diamond of making up?
Oh, here's a quote from the story:
"Complicating Wemp's case, perhaps, is an interview he gave to Shearer's researchers, in which he stated that the stories he told Diamond were in fact true."
You know, in addition to what Derek said above, I think it is very notable that all the bile spewed at Diamond came from people who saw nothing wrong with believing a website called "stinkyjournalism."

@Derek Sabine: um not that I'm assuming he's guilty but Diamond reported Isum as being in a wheelchair when the man is not in a wheelchair that at the very least shows that he didn't check his facts before reporting this. As for the rest of the story I don't care who is right or wrong that is for a court to decide, but I do find it funny that this primitive and violent men decided to sue over the story. I doubt Diamond even considered that they would read what he wrote.
