Shit! I still need to play the original... someone should port it to the Half-Life engine... I hear it has not aged well at all. Reply

@Log1c: No--I don't think it would age very well--especially in terms of polygon counts and texturing. Graphically it wouldn't hold up at all. There were also some control issues, IIRC. For some reason I am thinking there wasn't a jump button.

On the other hand, the story was un-freaking-believable--it's definitely worth playing if you get a chance. Reply

@Log1c: It really, really doesn't matter. Everything else apart from the graphics is so stunningly brilliant, the graphics, or lack of, barely matter at all.

And @Anekanta - there's definitely a jump button. Reply

@Theoban:

You forget the Chinese accents.

Besides some occasionally terrible voice acting and the outdated graphics, the game is fucking brilliant. Reply

@notruth: Definitely one of the very best.

And yes, there is a jump button. I know this because one particular fond memory of the game included a mighty leap.

Semi-spoiler:

I was creeping around the edge of an airplane hangar, trying to avoid detection by some gaurds posted there. I had just got my super run/jump leg mod. Anyhow, I'm doing a pretty good job of creeping along the tops of some crates when one of the guards spots me. I instantly punch the mod and leap halfway across the hanger, basically land on top of the guy and hit him with my stun baton. All he managed to get out was a "What the...?" before I dropped him. I flew clear over the head of another guard who didn't see a thing and after hiding the unconcious guard, proceeded with no alarms raised.

This game is full of opportunities to pull off badass feats. Reply
