It made me much, much sadder than I expected to see Peter's name on the tombstone. Not that I expected to see Peter's name -- I'm spoiler free since '93, baby!

But seriously, once I realized what I'd seen my love for Walter -- which began to grow in my heart from the very moment we met him -- exploded into a tidal wave of empathy and sympathy and the overwhelming, almost maternal, desire to see him and Peter be a happy, loving, content father/son duo. And also for Peter to understand what Walter has done for him.

This finale may, for some, have been lacking in tension, but it made up for everything with how beautiful and intelligently it set up Season 2. We have to wait THREE MONTHS for more?!?!

@stoprobbers: As soon as he said he "lost something precious," I knew what Walter had done. It didn't take spoilers. But the name on the tombstone drove it home. Reply

@stoprobbers: The whole Peter-1/Walter-Prime tragedy is much harder than that. While I understand Walter-Prime's pain, if he explained it to Peter-1, all he'd be explaining is how he stole Peter-1 from his father.

Walter-1 may have been a better father than Walter-Prime -- we haven't confirmed that Walter-Prime is actually the pancake making good dad that Peter-1 remembers from his early childhood. Perhaps Walter-Prime and Peter-1 have been estranged since Peter was 8 because Peter-1's father literally was at that point someone completely different than before?

I think that the best part of including a father-son element to the alternate realities plot is that it personalizes what otherwise could be too geeky to be accessible to parts of the audience. Reply
