If you're going to list Vampire Hunter D (which changed my life with it's amazingness, thank you), shouldn't you include the manga series Hellsing? It does take place in London, and not space, which might disqualify it, but the series is so amazing I think its worth an honorable mention under the Vampire-Series-that-don't-Suck category.
