Does anyone else have a problem with the use of the word "shaved"? Obviously the sloth didn't shave itself and I highly doubt anyone is shaving a sloth and then letting it loose. You can see that part of its hair is still attached near the lower part of the torso on the top left picture.
It's more likely a result of floating around in the water, similar to how the Montauk monster looked.
The idea that a sloth moved quickly enough to scare these kids is the worst part. They are just lying. [From WikiAnswers: Sloths Move .5-1 feet per minute.
