While I enjoyed the closure of the scene on the beach in Doctor Who, it was nothing compared to the heartbreak of the scene where Donna realizes she can't stay the way she is. That just kills me- I can't watch the episode without tearing up over it.
Donna is, by my measure, the best companion of the new series.

@Meredith Woerner: Agreed- still pisses me off, right-royally.
To have a character who's a real pain in the arse grow and become someone I truly loved, only to push the 'Reset' button on her... Anger!
Best Companion ever- wasted.

@Burke: Note I did specify "of the new series."
Donna didn't travel because she wanted the Doctor- she traveled because she wanted to explore and see things and be more than she was. She traveled to grow, and it broke my heart to see her go back to what she was before.

@Meredith Woerner: The reunion between Rose & The Doctor paled for me in comparison to the what happened to Donna and what she had to lose. Just heartbreaking. The only time I cried more this year during a show was the House season finale.
She was my favorite of the 9th/10th Doctor's companions, and I wish we could have seen how she would've dealt with the 11th Doctor.
