92BuickLeSabre commented on How to Fit a Mansion's Worth of Crap Into Your Tiny Apartment My four personal rules for living in a ~600 sq ft Manhattan one-bedroom.
1) Nothing comes in the house unless something else goes out.
(This includes clothes and food.)
2) If you can't/won't throw it out, stash it at Manhattan Mini Storage.
3) Take it as a point of pride when someone tells you your apartment looks like a modern hotel room.
4) Don't have children.

92BuickLeSabre commented on Speed Racer, Road Runner Beep Beep Their Way Into Advertising I hate, hate, hate, (did I mention hate) this ad.

It is so ill-conceived. Do they really think it makes me think their service is faster than Speed Racer in some theoretical universe where I measure online performance against blockbuster live-action versions of classic childhood cartoon race cars?

No, instead it makes me think that Speed is a total loser who can't even beat a friggin bird in a race. It literally makes me less interested in the movie while having zero impact on my internet service purchasing decisions.

It's not like the Road Runner is even some beloved childhood icon. Probably the least developed character of the lot. Just a snotty little fast piece of prey that never does anything more than eat and run around. Speedy Gonzalez minus the quick wit is just a fast pest.

Aaarrrgh. My irrational hatred of this ad grows and grows!

92BuickLeSabre commented on Amazon Sues New York to Stop Collecting Sales Tax One thing to remember is that on the "user" end, this isn't an inherently new tax.

When we file taxes in NY, we essentially have a duty to disclose online purchases and make up the sales taxes at that time. This may come as a little bit of a surprise, but it turns out it's really hard to enforce the tax after the fact.

Rather than being a new tax, this, arguably, merely moves the time of taxation from April 15 to the moment of transaction.

(Although it's still unclear to me whether making it a sales tax rather than a user tax is Constitutional. I could see it coming out either way.)

@LastAndLeast: There's no need to insult the socialists by putting me in their ranks.
