Cowboy Bebop is finally coming to Blu-ray in North America

Dear anime fans who have been waiting for a truly HD version of the Cowboy Bebop: Your wait is almost over. At Otakon this past weekend, Funimation announced they "rescued" over a dozen Bandai Entertainment titles, and will finally be releasing a Blu-ray version of Bebop in America next year.

Here's everything else Funimation announced:

• Tales of the Abyss
• Witch Hunter Robin
• Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion
• Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2
• Code Geass: Lelouch Akito the Exiled
• Angel Links
• Banner of the Stars
• Banner of the Stars II
• Passage of the Stars "Birth"
• Crest of the Stars
• Outlaw Star
• The Escaflowne movie
• The Vision of Escaflowne TV series
• My-Hime
• My-ZHime
• My-ZHime O~S.ifr~
• My ZHime Zwei

Seeing as Code Geass was released pretty recently, I imagine after Bebop folks will be most excited by Outlaw Star and Escaflowne, since they're both popular anime that made it to TV in the U.S. and haven't been available in years. I also imagine Bandai Japan forced Funimation to take Banner of the Stars in order to get Bebop and the others, since no company in its right mind would license it willingly, but oh well. If that's the price Funi has to pay so I can get Cowboy Bebop on Blu-ray, I will gladly let them pay it.
