This trailer for Jeff Bridges' new movie Seventh Son is relentless with the monster action. This movie adaptation of Joseph Delaney's The Spook's Apprentice looks like a less inspired Willow mixed with the new Hansel And Gretel movie. Which... could be a good thing?
All of the monsters in this trailer do look CG fantastic — so if you don't like CG villains, too bad for you.
On the plus side, the evil witch Mother Malkin is played by the sensational Julianne Moore. Who is looking all sorts of evil, in a great way. Jeff Bridges is cast as her heroic nemesis the "spook" John Gregory (Jeff Bridges). Who trains the main character Tom Ward (Ben Barnes) — a casting decision that has aged up this character quite a bit.
The plot is simple: The witch escapes, and it's up to John and Tom to catch her again. All the while learning everything about magic, plus a few moral lessons about monsters. This is the very first footage we are ever seeing of this adaptation — so fans of the series, what do you think? Do you like it?
The Seventh Son lands in theaters on Jan. 17, 2014.
