Fox has nabbed the media rights to the classic 1980s book series that had children picking out their violent, imaginary deaths, over and over again. Don't get us wrong: Choose Your Own Adventure is great but if we had a choice in the matter, we would say "No thanks" to reviving this brand in a movie.
THR is reporting that Fox is looking to unravel a "cross-platform four quadrant action adventure franchise" out of the dated series. Which sounds like a video game and webseries integrated into a movie, with big time social media input. Sigh.
The idea of a CYOA movie makes us just sad. However...
What if they got directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller? We will watch any wackadoo Hollywood scheme to squeeze dollars out of the audience by grating the last nubs of our nostalgic heart into a movie, if it's directed by Lord and Miller. They proved they can do it with 21 Jump Street, and Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. But unless you hire those two, You Choose Wrong, Fox.
